We initiate our peculiar walk at the corner of the street Aragó with the Passeig de Gràcia.
It is in this street where the emblematic buildings of the architect Antoni Gaudí, the Casa Battló and La Pedrera or also known as the Casa Milà and built in 1905, show us all their enigmatic beauty, and a few meters from the Fundaciò Tàpies, headquarters of the principals works of the celebrated painter.
Situated at this point, we divide the great city in two parts (north-south-mountain-sea) well differentiated and that invite us to cross this Barcelona of the Ruta de los Judíos (Route of the Jews) famous for its acquaintance El Call dels Jueus and for the narrow streets of its Barrio Gótico (Gothic neighbourhood) with its known Cathedral, closely together with this incomparable jewel of Modernism in Barcelona which is the Palau of the Música Catalana (Catalan Music Palace), or this route of the many mixed markets of the city giving special attention to the emblematic one of The Boqueria, (Saint Josef market) situated in full Ramblas (Ravines) of Barcelona, and the renewed, questioned and highly visited Mercat de Santa Caterina (Holy Catherine Market).
Continuing a bit (approximately 500 meters) towards the north from our starting point, we discover the impressive Avenida (Avenue) Diagonal (the avenue that was designed in 1859 by the architect Ildefons Cerdá, in what would be his magnificent project L’Éixample de Barcelona).
Avenida (Avenue) that situate us in its final section towards the sea and leads us to the zone of the Forum 2004 where we will be welcomed by the triangular blue building (an impressive equilateral triangle of 180m of sides and 25m of height), known as Edificio (Building) Forum, work of the architects Jacques Herzog and Pierre de Meuron, and the hugh central square and the Placa Fotovoltaica (Photovoltaic Square) designed by José Antonio Martinez de la Peña and Elías Torres. From the centre its principal building of offices appears as a kind of glass beacon, work of Joseph Lluis Mateo from MAP Architects, and from where we lead ourselves towards the shopping and business zone so called Diagonal Mar, zone framed between big buildings among which stands out the impressive silhouette of the Hotel Barcelona Princess, work of the famous architect Oscar Tusquets.
